What a batteleground here. People whose judgement I trust (as experienced competent shortsellers, or good investigative journalists) seem to be divided over whether AREM is a buy or a short. Not only that, much of the whole exchange is pretty uncivil -- and this is between posters whom I thought better of.

So I closed out the last half of my piddly little short now, just over $15 (at a loss, FWIW).

I shorted AREM because it didn't seem to pass my smell test -- it seemed pretty typical of the various frauds or "accounting oopsies" I have either successfully shorted or watched in the past. The big difference here though is that AREM is the first such "smelly stock" I've shorted that had defenders who I consider to be above mindless herd-following.

I'll now stand back and see how the AREM story unfolds...
