JC, Re: It is possible that the 180nm process happens to already have the thermal advantages of the 130nm process, and that new process merely improves on the speedpaths. You know, there's supposed to be two ends of the process, and sometimes the current process is tweaked with elements of next generation processes.

I believe Elmer admitted that a few days ago on the Intel thread. However, he also stated that the P4 0.18 micron process didn't have these enhancements. I don't know if that's true but it's still disappointing to see that Tualatin gets only such a small advantage. Keep in mind that besides switching to 0.13micron, this is also a copper process which should give additional thermal advantages.

With these data points in mind I wonder how much AMD will profit from the 0.13micron transition?
