The Bush girls and Chelsea are indeed public figures. The Secret Service does not protect non-public figures. The litmus test for slander/libel of a public figure is publishing information that you know to be false. The litmus test for non-public figures is simply publishing false information. I suspect that 99.9999 percent of the comments posted on this board, however rude, would be protected by the First Amendment.
