Bob, RE: That's not entirely true. Most sell-side analysts are required to have a regulatory Series 7 license (so they can be a broker if they eventually want to).

If all analysts aren't required to hold a Series 7, it isn't exactly a legal requirement then, is it?

edit: There's a rather large difference between an individual firm's requirements and legal standards. Some firms require analysts to have a CFA. That designation has nothing to do with any legal standard for analysts.
