If we were speaking about Madonna and her statement "we are living in a material world , and I'm just a material girl...
I could see the criticism of a platitude or selfindulgent trite remark . But ML King whether you think he was trite or banal and a master of platitudes ( lacking originality , trite )it's enough to see the influence of Gandhi happening there . One acknowledging the other's struggle and genious for finding resolution of the human conditions of caste, racism , and intolerance .
And in Gandhi's case also ,the setting an example of how the life of the individual and attitudes can change the entire process, not just in India , but anywhere , under any regime.
Gandhi was clever at many things , but was a master of simplicity... austere in his own life . Which is never trite or banal . Very few men or women master that in their own lives . You know any ? They are rare....
If the truth be told the average joe , joe ...cannot focus their minds more than 5-7secs at a time , and that usually coming with great effort, before some distraction sets in.
So you see , there is a need for examples of sincere devotion to simplicity with a passionate eye always ready to embrace and point the way to a more divine purpose in living . Takes very old souls to do this...
This word "divine"...is quite a word isn't it ? Like beauty and justice and freedom...and living simply. |
