Gandhi is a wonderful Christ figure, but much better than the real Christ- since he was interested in saving all men and women regardless of religious affiliation, saving them from themselves, from their anger and hatred for each other based on some concept as silly as religion- it doesn't get any better than that. Poor Average. He is in a dark place if he can't see Gandhi as a great man, and a beacon of goodness. I only read your side of the posts, but trite and commonplace - Gandhi? Don't I wish that were so. But all you have to do is look at the money grubbing, bitter, religiously stunted people on SI and all around the world, and you see how rare a man like Gandhi really is. One could WISH such men were commonplace, but alas the Averages of this world are all too typical. There are not a lot of truly great men of peace- (not men who call bombs "peacemakers- but men who actually call peace, peace, and love, love). The Dali Lama is a great man of peace also. It is a comfort to know that such people exist.
