SGI Maintains Leadership Role for the 17th Consecutive List

Released separately today at the International Supercomputer Conference '01 in Heidelberg, Germany, the TOP500 Supercomputing Sites list reported that the U.S. continues to lead the world in supercomputing power and use; with academic and research agencies also increasing their use of these supercomputing systems. Many top research and academic organizations continue to favor SGI systems, utilizing NUMAflex(TM) architecture, allowing the computer's resources to work simultaneously on certain problems. Hence, SGI remains one of the top providers for these agencies and upholds its top rank as a dominant vendor on the semi-annual list.
