"circle hooks"

We use those for Salmon in Northern CA. In fact it is illegal to fish for Salmon without them. The limit is 2 fish over 24" and they started requiring the circle hooks a couple of years back because they reduce the mortality rate for fish that are released. Problem is it is still hard to release a salmon from a boat in the ocean without hurting the fish. Very slippery and active. A solution I prefer that gets instituted every now and then is to keep the first two fish regardless of the size. A lot of times people will catch 10 or 12 to get the two keepers and I am sure some of the released ones die.

Anyway, that's my circle hook input. Hope it's not too controversial.
