MEXICO = SOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I nominate this coach as the worst ever in the history of the sport!

Mexico coach resigns after World Cup defeat

SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras, June 21 (Reuters) - Mexico coach
Enrique Meza resigned after Wednesday's 3-1 defeat by Honduras, their
second World Cup qualifying setback in five days and their sixth loss in a
row.

``I have just told all the people who treated me so well that they will have
to look for competent people who can help the youngsters,'' said Meza,
who was in charge for less than a year.

The defeat left Mexico fifth in the final stage of the CONCACAF World
Cup qualifying competition at the halfway stage with four points from five
games. Only the top three qualify.

Mexico have just over a week to find a replacement before their next
game at home to group leaders the United States on July 1.

Mexican Football Federation (FMF) director Hugo Kiese, who is in
charge of the national teams commission, confirmed Meza had resigned.

``We're going through a bad patch and we're going to try and improve,''
he said. ``We are going to try and sort this situation out in ten days.'' He
did not mention any possible replacements.

Meza, whose credentials included three Mexican championship titles in
the last three years with provincial club Toluca, replaced Manuel
Lapuente last September.

But after two early wins, Mexico have triumphed in only one of their last
16 matches under Meza.

They were beaten 4-0 by England in a friendly and then lost all three
matches at the Confederations Cup, including defeats to South Korea
and Australia and a 4-0 thrashing by France.

On Saturday, they suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat by Costa Rica, their
first in a qualifier at the Azteca stadium.

Mexico looked doomed from the start in San Pedro Sula on Wednesday.
The Honduras attack, led by the speedy Carlos Pavon and David Suazo,
is one of the best the country has produced and would have given
Mexico a tough game in any circumstances.
