As soon as he understands how to use a computer and what computers can do, he should easily gain a 40% global market share.

I have been buying Dell computers now for more than ten years. At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He is young and he will eventually get it, but now I am not so sure.

For instance, you can configure and order a Dell computer online, but when you call a sales rep about your order, he doesn't know anythiong about the computer that you have ordered online. After telling him about the order, he puts all the information into the computer for future reference and will get back to you as soon as he gets the story straight. But when you call the next time and get someone else, you have to go over the whole story all over again.

What does this tell me? This tells me that although Michael Dell does a heck of a job selling a lot of computers, he and his company, to this day, do not have a clue as to what computers should be doing.

Michael Dell does not have a computer system of his own that works.

Imagine what Dell Computers will be doing once they figure out what they can use computers for and how they can improve their business by implementing computer systems that make sense.

No wonder they have no visbility to sales in the next quarter. They have no visibility into their own business.
