Robert: Yup, I gotta agree with the article. Who'da thunk, back 2 years ago, that the Telecom sector would end up doing such a spectacular impression of the commercial real estate sectors economic up and down and up performance characteristics. You know....times get good and floor space demand occurs so office buildings go up left, right and sideways until over-building leads them into a recession-like affair.
For telecom I'd say these be recessionary times. Let's hope the imitation continues into the recovery phase. A phase most probably, for a fair number of the companies out there, outwards of 2 years from now. My own personal opinion is the next focus area for telecom, and its occuring even as I "speak," is a focus on building out metro-area fiber loops. And from this fiber to the curb. That glut of bandwidth across the network backbones will be sucked up fast once you've got a goodly percentage of fiber to the curb embedded. Once that's done (and you'll never see it 100% completed simply because of the vast copper infrastructure long in place) then such broadband applications as video on demand, music and multi-media streaming applications of all sorts, can really take off. And THAT should take care of the glut. But until then....well....such as LVLT, etc., are going to be practicing all those recessionary "arts" employees know and love so well.
Meanwhile, it's good to see VLNC firm up. It seems clearly tied to the NAZ's performance, so everyone bow down to the NAZ god and pray for happy days. ;-)
