The problem with both XCL and Mulatos is that both their projects are being bought from other gold producers, Kinross and Placer respectively. This begs the question, if these projects are so good, then why do companies whose business is mining gold want out of them ?

Think about it, why should a VC put any money into mining a commodity like gold. At current prices there is no money to be made. VC's are in the business of making a very good return on their investment and so they will wait until gold prices cross over atleast $325 in a sustained way, before puting any money into this sector.
