Brian, Keith,
Instant gratification is the curse of the baby boomer generation and its progeny. It is time to put things in perspective as you and Keith suggest. I have been away at a trade show for a couple of days. Business is bad. Many folks not travelling and this show was not a successful one. But I came away with a strong feeling that business will be better at the next show next June. Yes some businesses wont survive. Hell, didnt intel almost go under once?
But if we invest in the survivors who are leaders in their industries, and ignore much of this short term trading debate that goes on here, we will end up just fine. I wish all the short termers on this thread the best of luck but I just dont have the wherewithall or the temprement to play the market that way. The market for me is only a casino when it is treated that way and I have done some of that and paid. So who will be better off in 2-5 years--the traders or the patient investor?--I suspect the latter. mike
