I didn't know all the dos <>| characters indicated how a command is to be directed. I was simply typing as an example to tc what was displayed on my screen as I navigated through directories in dos. All the dos prompts I've seen, or noticed anyway, end in > If I'm in the root directory, dos reports c:\> If I'm in the windows directory it reports c:\windows> After the >, I type a command file name, and it runs it.

C:\progra~1\trayman>trayman -u

This works if the bold part is the typed command, and the italic is the dos prompt. The command that worked for tc combined with the dos prompt probably looked like below.

C:\>C:\progra~1\trayman\trayman -u

I'm glad he solved the problem, and I got to learn something too.
