I think part of the problem is that the intial data people use for IDC or Gartner or any of those places, is they often way off base. The analysts at those places seem to jump the gun and call for large volume of products or technology, only to be several years off. They might get lucky and be close occasionally, but I don't see where reliable data can be found.
