C.R.A.C.K. Program, Which Pays Men and Women Drug Addicts to Be Sterilized or
Obtain Long-term Birth Control, Comes to Nashville!
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- C.R.A.C.K. which offers $200 to
men and women that are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol to obtain long-term
birth control, or be sterilized, will be opening its Nashville chapter on June
25, 2001. In attendance will be founder and director Barbara Harris, who will
share her reasons for founding such a controversial program, as well as
discussing her having adopted four of eight children from the same substance
abusing mother. Also, the organization's Nashville volunteer coordinator, who
is the foster mother of seven of 10 siblings born to an addict woman with AIDS
will share her touching story. Other community supporters will also be in
attendance.
To date this national organization has volunteers throughout the United
States including chapters in Seattle, Detroit, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh,
Chicago, among others. C.R.A.C.K. has paid 452 clients, including 5 men, to
obtain long-term birth control. Prior to obtaining birth control, these women
had a total of 2,492 pregnancies, and a tragic 825 abortions. Further
