Pierre, allow me to interject; if you hold a portfolio of stocks representative of the SP500 or more like the Nasdaq 100, you can hedge in your IRA buy purchasing shares in ProFunds. They offer a mirror image of either the SP500 or the Nasdaq 100, as a mutual fund. Also, they offer a 200% version for each.
They offer these funds in either bull or bear varieties, so if you want to hedge a long portfolio, you can use the "bear" proxies for SP500 or NDX100.
