I haven't been around here much, lately... even though I still (sob!) have a few COMS shares....

But I have to report that 3Com's intellectual property war-chest is growing, if for no other reason than the issue of U. S. Patent 6,233,237, Method and protocol for connecting data calls using R2 signaling.

Don't try to make sense of it... I'll explain what particular obscurity it's good for, if you must know.

But, here's a story: Do you know how you find out that you've been issued a U. S. Patent? You find out when two letters arrive, in the same day's mail, offering to sell you a laser-engraved plaque showing your new patent. Three weeks later, the patent lawyers notice....

So it goes.
