In particular, the universe with a negative cosmological constant will always collapse eventually, even though the cosmological constant may be nearly zero and undetectable at all at the present time. This suggests a scenario in which the universe is accelerating now but may collapse eventually, thereby avoiding the cumbersome event horizon problem.
