The California "energy crisis" was a Texas-bred, Bush/Cheney-led scheme to gouge consumers, punish California for rejecting them and discredit Davis whom they feared as a guy who could whip their asses in 2004. All will backfire in their faces now as the Senate investigates. Why would the energy lobbyists who run the Bush admninistration now be talking compromise and settlement to California unless they didn't want the matter investigated further? Simple math: energy cost price spike to California as Bush took office 500% average. Increased cost to energy supplies - none. Real shortages - none. Just an arrogant attempt to rob the consumers blind, including Republicans by the way, so why defend them? Bush even had the gall to tell us we could use our tax break to pay our extra energy costs. In essence then the tax break goes right into his cronies pockets. Not yours or mine or anyone elses.
