Liberty Media to buy Tele-Columbus - report
FRANKFURT, June 23 (Reuters) - Liberty Media Group plans to boost its German presence as it is in talks to buy a stake in the country's second largest cable firm Tele-Columbus together with German rival Kabel NRW, according to Focus magazine.

Focus said on Saturday in an article issued ahead of publication that U.S.-based Liberty Media (NYSE:LMGa - news) also plans to acquire German peer iesy-Netz.

Tele-Columbus is owned by German bank Deutsche Bank . The bank declined to comment on the report.

German newspaper Welt am Sonntag said in a pre-released article Deutsche Bank would announce the sale of Tele-Columbus shortly.

It said US-based Callahan and British communications and cable group NTL (NYSE:NLI - news) were also interested in the German cable television company.

Earlier this week, Liberty Media said it plans to buy six German cable television operations from Deutsche Telekom . Industry sources estimated the deal to be worth $4.69 billion.
