It's doubtful Jeffords will ever run again. He will be in his early 70's at the end of his term in 2006. The scandal is not Jeffords, per say, who has been a liberal his entire career. It is the wasting of Republican political capital and money on propping up his career for all this time. He took Trent Lott and a couple others like the old snake oil salesmen used to take the farmers. The Republican party in the Senate has to clean up their act and purge the rest of their liberal wing. Filibusters against all legislation with John McCain's name on it would be a good start. Looking forward to them redeeming themselves on the Kennedy/McCain Trial Lawyers' Bill of Rights, now working it's way toward a vote...
