Excerpt: <<Taiwan-based notebook manufacturer Quanta Computer has landed a OEM order for 4.5 million to five million notebooks from Dell Computer. According to sources, to fulfill this order, from the first quarter of 2002 Quanta is expected to ship 250,000-300,000 units every month and around three million notebooks in total for 2002.
This 14-inch notebook product line from Dell targets the high-end, business segment, and its product life cycle has been estimated at 18 months, lasting from January or February 2002 to between May and July 2003. Because a similar product line has enjoyed great sales performance, selling 200,000 units every month, Dell is very confident about the latest model, expecting sales to reach 250,000 units every month.
