LG, Thanks for moderating a quality vs quantity thread. The Dot-Com meltdown has obscured how the web can be used in powerful innovative ways like your board to facilitate communication.

In terms of the dog of the dow link, another mechanical value approach is benchmark investing. There is a book and a web board dedicated to this strategy.

Unlike other possibly datamined backtested mechanical approaches it has survived the hurdle of continuing to do well prospectively after it has been popularized.

Dividend mechanical approaches like the dogs have the advantage of much longer term backtesting and backtesting of the general approach across foreign markets. Several years ago I had a very profitable year with adr dogs of the footsie.

I read somewhere that once value starts to beat growth as an investing strategy this continues for long periods. So a combination of identifying intermediate entry points with value investing makes a lot of sense.

Look forward to your charts and realtime posts identifying short term, intermediate and longer term trends and turning points. Thanks again.
