I've told OE to "delete from server" about sixty, so far, subject lines. I mean any messages with those lines or words. I was using the rule not to download them, but when my server, Optimum Online, was having email difficulties and they suggested to me that I go to

mail2web.com

to pick up my mail, I found 78 pieces of junk mail there. So I changed to Delete from Don't Download just in case not downloading created a sort of mausoleum.

Text messages are already downloaded by the time you see the subject line. Only 'rich text' [html] messages have to fetch content from web sites after you open them - sometimes.

I don't know what "do it offline" means. I mean, if you have cable you're always online, I think. But it sounds reasonable to me that if I can see the subject line, the msg has been downloaded already. I'm wondering what mr. mark thinks.

I'd be curious to know what 'rules' others are instituting in an attempt to get less junkmail. "Hot Asian Teens!!!!!" is definitely on my own personal No Thanks list. Anything at all with five exclamation points is-- I've made it a rule. Also the word 'mortgage.' I didn't pay my entire credit card bill, unusual for me, a while ago, and that opened the floodgates for people who want me to take out a mortgage. Also to start various extremely remunerative businesses, I mean, like, $30,000 a month, guaranteed!, you understand, some of them requiring a video camera and not much in the way of modesty. I gather. I can't be sure because even though i'm curious, i'm afraid to click on the links for fear it will encourage them. There isn't a stock spammer whose list i'm not on. I wonder if they get names from SI, or National Discount Broker, or where.

Mr. mark, if I can see the subject line, has it already been downloaded, do you think, evne though i've now eliminated the Preview?
