Yes it did, Barrick now has an increased ability to effect the market with the reserves acquired thru hm. Whether those reserves are used as a potential cover for abx's short position or to provide the inground collateral for additional forward sales, higher gold prices are not on the barrick agenda. Remember this company is as much a banker as they are a miner, and like paper covers rock, the banker smothers miner.
