Hi John:

Had to take a break and couldn't finish the post.

Well on CMRC it is hard to decipher the #'s to quantify forward prospects.

1) Service revenue. Not sure if they peaked @ $100M or not. Went to $90m last quarter. Even if the company had bookings for this quarter not only does the quarter look weaker for service providers but since this has been a strong area it should start having more competition (see compaq's comments). My understanding of the appnet acquisiton was to obtain the ability to service customers of the makret places and specifically focus on cmrc product.

Service companies don't command as much of a multiple as software companies.

2) Recurring license revenue which includes the % of market place transactions as well as SAP joint revenue. Actually we need to see the next 2 - 3 quarters. One would think this continues to grow (it was 10, 15, 17.5 last 3 quarters) since the marketplaces are slowly moving forward.

3) Software sales. We'll they still had some deferred sales to help make this quarter but if they didn't sell new licenses (sure doens't sound like much news on this front) there won't be much left in the till for next quarter.

CHKP - always liked this stock. Still think its the leader in its space but the symc news last week should put a cap on its price unless the company can show strong fundamentals in its cc.

On the markets - hard to see them rallying especially in tech with the summer doldrums (i.e. European vacations and resulting slowdowns) fast approaching.

Notice the oil and gas pull backs. Maybe the middle innings became the late innings. Out of DVN (my only gas investment) and still waiting for a reentry on NAT.

Tim
