Great post, mighty.

Anybody thinks there's no war is in a state of denial.

Absolutely correct. I have been recently thinking along those lines, but the idea had not yet come into fruition.

It might be a polite war, with no bombs and no bullets, but it's a war all the same. The war is actually taking place on a broader front than telecom. Business is a polite kind of war, a point often forgotten by soft-hearted prosperous Americans. The Euros object to the GE and Worldcom mergers while we allow them to freely come into our economy. Lots of other examples. The Japanese are worse offenders.

It's the difference between preaching about open markets and actually opening them.

Ungrateful Euro serfs scared to death of competition, trying to protect the indefensible by unsuccessfully fiddling with standards in order to avoid compelling technology. The naked emperor is about to get speared by his own lance.

Should never have set up the Marshall Plan. The Soviets could have planned their economies nicely for them.-vbg-

I love it when you get all fired up.
