We must all begin to legislate morality. You have struck one of my pet peeves -- the "we can't legislate morality" claim. Sorry. We DO legislate morality all the time. Virtually every substantive law we have is the imposition of one group's moral views on another group which doesn't agree with those moral view. Criminalizing murder is legislating morality. Why shouldn't the strong survive? That's one moral code. It's the moral code of mother nature. It's the code of the lawless frontier. We don't follow it. Those who want a different morality, one where might doesn't always make right, band together and impose their moral code on those who want a society where killing is unpunished. Criminalizing theft is the legislating morality. If you have two loaves of bread and I have none, why shouldn't I get to take one of yours? That's one moral option (the communist option). We don't follow it. We legislate the morality of capitalism. And on, and on, and on. We legislate morality all the time. Get off this "we can't legislate morality" kick. It's plain wrong. The only issue is which, and whose, morality we should legislate.
