stribe - we're only speculating comparing the FUTURE merits of Alpha and IA64 as developed separately. What should NOT be as speculative is that a JOINT architectural design effort done by CPQ Alpha and INTC IA64 architects should take full advantage of all the combined expertise AND full use of patents owned by both companies working together as a team... Given the right joint development atmosphere and the "cultivating" management approach, the resulting future Itanium should find no equal as far as innovation depth and breadth as well as the World market reach are concerned.
