Re: mobile acceptance in Europe.

Mqurice, another factor is that fixed lines in Europe were expensive and took a long time to get installed. LD was (and still is) way overpriced. So, there were not as many phones per capita as the USA. Along came cellular which seemed reasonably priced on a relative basis and it solved some of the other problems. Therefore it was more attractive than it is in the USA where phones are everywhere and reasonably priced.

I do not know of anyone among my personal acquaintances who cares one way or another about who pays for the phone call. They figure it evens out over time. But, maybe I run in the wrong circles, WDIK?

I hear people talking about mobile data to make their laptops more portable and avoid the costs of using them in hotel rooms. No one else seems to have clue about any other 3G features and if asked don't think they want them. Having said that, most of us don't want new stuff until someone demonstrates how useful it is to us.

Best to all,

John
