"my Yahoo account is never opened because Yahoo puts it in a bulk mail folder [and later deletes it automatically]. Yet the same spam appears again and again."

unless you've tracked it how would you know that it's the same spammer?

i have tracked it, meaning i have written down addresses to see if they would continue or stop. they stopped.

what you are seeing and referring to is more spammers and more spammers. but what you are not seeing is the ones that are giving up on you because you are not opening their mail.

this all started because you called into question a couple things, gott. one, that downloading was the same as opening. that is not correct. the second thing you called into question was that you doubted very seriously that spammers know whether you have opened their mail. i have shown you that that is also incorrect.

what we are left with is a discussion of the individual merits of various spam busting ideas and techniques.

which is what i set out to share in the first place.

:)
