OT <<The US constitution allows for a citizen to have the right to bear arms. what kind of arms are these>>
Almost any limited to .50 cal if a cartridge arm, not full auto.
<<and what citizens can bear them? >>
All except violent felons
<<It is obvious the intent was for the arm to be a military weapon.>>
If you go read the writings of the day from Jefferson(The single person most responsible for forcing the issue forward) there was much about the worth for one's health of walking afield hunting but you are correct also concerning the military arms. The arms of the day were mulitple use.
<<But today our legislators seek to obfuscate that concept by >>
Not all our leaders.
<<But the framers of the constitution intended obviously for its citizens to be individually armed lest the government take its powers to be too absolute>>
Near impossible in the world of today for oen to be well enough armed(even were it legal) to fight the might of the US Government. If one is really concerned about freedom the goal should be less government NOT more guns to protect freedom. Freedom is the goal, guns are but one tool. Yes, a valuable tool, but not the most valuable tool in securing freedom.
I'm a militant "from my cold dead fingers" NRA type(and only NRA now that they've come around). That said, I will also add,"I pray I never live to see an American need take up arms against MY nation." We must be a land of laws, not of men, of words & ideas not of force - All the while we of the great middle must remain free from those which wish more control yet protected from those wishing lawless control. There can be found tyranny found in both the extreme right or left.
<<but it is a fact that there are more .303, KAR 98, 30-06, 30-30, other WWII rifles in Canada >>
WOW, the 30-30 was a military arm in Canada in WW-II? I had no idea. |
