Thanks, be it ever so dumpy there's no place like home :o)

The Western US was fantastic but after pedalling 3,012 miles in 34 days I have had enough. Don't ever let anyone tell you northern Kansas is flat as there is less than 5 miles of flat surface in nearly 400 miles of travel (northern Missouri isn't much better).

You have to do something like that at least once in your life or you just haven't "lived". It was pretty intense.

Energyplay, I like your strategy of pairing longs and shorts. Have been thinking along those lines for the past few days but can't find anything worth owning in telecom or semis. The fundamentals are simply too poor. Unlike many analysts who are constantly calling bottoms and predicting a recovery around the corner, NONE of the tech CEO's are willing to provide any forward guidance. Any suggestions for long positions?

Right now is an ideal time to separate the good analysts from the idiots. The good analysts are cautious while the idiots are screaming "buy!" and "Be a long term investor!" and "Look beyond the trough!". Have made a lot of money lately by doing the exact opposite of what those fools are screaming. I don't see techs bottoming for a few more months, and that only under fairly optimistic circumstances.

Dan Niles has been particularly good lately. IMHO his analysis has been right on the money.

Anyone out there who DOESN'T think European economies have started going into the toilet in the last month?
