No, I am not failing to look at the relativity. On the technological side, I still don't like the Zip. Yes, I think it is targeted at the right market. Hell, people are willing to pay for pet rocks if it's marketed right. Iomega has done a great job of marketing the right product to the right consumer. Are we letting the mass market decide the next standard for the floppy replacement? Yes. Is the mass market making the right decision: NO. The mass market buys pet rocks.

Ford sells more cars than Mercedes. Does this mean that Mercedes are bad? No. Is a superior product like some of those that Syquest produce bad because the mass market didn't buy them? I don't think so.

Would a person who drives a Mercedes want to trade it for a Ford? Maybe, but not most of the time. Would someone who has been used to using the high performance products of Syquest want to trade it in for a Zip? NO.

BTW, I own Iomega stocks and Syquest puts. You don't have to convince me that the Zip is a successful product. I don't need a Jaz at this time because I have lots of capacity. I buy removable SCSI brackets from Santa Clara for $25 each and stick in high performance SCSI disks that have < 9ms access rates and spindle speeds greater than 6000rpm.

I'll get around to owning a zip and Jaz, I always buy the toys to evaluate. I'll probably buy them with the profit I'll make from my Iomega stocks.
