>>>can't find anything worth owning in telecom or semis.<<<
Well, that 's you, me, Dan Niles, and Drew Peck.

On the Semi side, Agere (the Lucent spin off) might be good bet, but later.
I don't think I'll buy until Fall in the semi and telecom area.

Later this year , the fabless compaies which have increasng sales, not telecom, could do well since
TSMC is at 40% of capacity and Chartered Semi is at 30%. Wafer costs will be dropping, and if they can keep prices and unit volumes up to end customers, selected fabless companies could do well.

Of course , by then, no investor may want to be in the same room with a semi stock...;-)

My long for this may be cash.

For shorting NG stocks, I might go long some Phillips (P). Technicals not quite right. They are not in the Middle East so they benefit if that blows up. About a 2.3% dividend, so you get paid for holding. Every so often, a buy out rumour hits, and the stock does a nice pop. Stocks been dropping ever since Senator Jeffers switched, because they are heavy in Alaska and would benefit from opening ANWR.
