RPI on J-TECH Team for Military Range Support BTG Company to Provide Range Technology and Base Support on JT3 Team
Fairfax, Virginia - June 26, 2001 - Research Planning, Inc. (RPI), which was acquired in April by BTG, Inc. (Nasdaq: BTGI), is a member of a team led by EG&G and Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) that was selected to support the Joint Range Technical Services (J-TECH) program. The Joint Test, Tactics and Training (JT3) team, a joint venture of EG&G and Raytheon, was awarded an initial one-year $96.7 million contract to support Air Force and Navy training ranges in California, Utah and Nevada. With options, the contract has a potential period of performance of 15 years with estimated revenue value to the team of more than $1.7 billion. Revenue to BTG's RPI unit is estimated at over $5 million for the base year. The total estimated value of the contract to BTG during the 15-year period of performance, including all option years, is $85 million.
The JT3 team will provide engineering and technical services in support of the test and training mission of the Nevada Test and Training Range, the Utah Test and Training Range, the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California, and the Navy's Electronic Combat Range at China Lake, California.
Grant Peterson, RPI Vice President for Range Technology and Base Support, said RPI's principal responsibilities include operational and technical support to the Naval Air Warfare Center and Electronic Combat Range at China Lake. Under the contract, RPI will provide support for Radar Development Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), Time Space Positioning Information (TSPI), Data Process and Display systems (DP&D), Telemetry, Communications, Computer Systems, and Bomb and Strafe Range support.
