Andreas: AMD disabled SSE per default in the Athlon 4s and Athlon MPs shipping right now

That's... uhmm... rather shocking.

Don't know quite what to say....

Aren't they opening themselves up to legal action here? I mean, they are actively advertising 3DNow! Professional, but if the chip is shipped with the feature deactivated...

BTW, I wouldn't be too harsh with Overclockers.

Despite "Ed" completely misunderstanding the memory bandwidth / prefetcher issue, I don't believe I included a single derogatory remark (which I usually do quite happily). The reason is simple: I haven't read anything (AFAIR) on the site before (I'm not really into overclocking - I tried it a bit when I was "younger", but it's been years since I dabbled in the art) and I don't think it's fair to judge the guy based on just one piece. He did get the bandwidth issue spectacularly wrong, though ;-)... and I'm waiting to hear if he responds to the feedback I sent him (phrased in as positive and constructive a style as I could manage).
