In effect, JDSU's acquisition methods, for the last several years, has been the reverse of this. They bought those tech shares when they were most overvalued.

Because both currencies were equally "overvalued" this has minimal effect. I say this because JDSU needs to enter certain high growth markets and for this they must pay. If they were to buy an Old Economy(hate that phrase) value company, they would be doing their shareholders a disservice since they came on board as shareholders presuming that JDSU management would aggressively seek to enter new markets in FO, not in some slow growth sector, Old Economy sector. Additionally, the stock price would have been eviscerated probably the same as it has been since over the past year since that would have caught WS off-guard and they do not like a management that does that. Not to mention that the new company would be a much slower grower than the old JDSU so it would no longer warrant a pricey multiple.
