Come on! Give me a break. The published SPECint numbers for Itanium are aweful! What percetage of servers do any floating point? 10%? SPECfp per $ is awful too.

Itanium is just plain poorly conceived. It doesn't even have the memory bandwidth of a P4, it emphasizes floating point over integer performance, and if future versions try to increase the number of instructions per cycle, the compiler technology will fall even further behind.
