Sorry, but I disagree. That is like saying we are all doomed to lives of failure. . . never to learn anything from our mistakes.

Of course some people can learn from their mistakes. I was talking about all investors in aggregate.

This thread is full of contrarians. . .many of which sold techs on alerts posted here in March/April 2000, when the market was in full bloom. . . in other words, we SOLD the top. . . .there have been many swings where we have bought bottoms and sold off tops. And many of us are still awaiting a retest of the April 4 low before jumping back in for the long-term. . . . again buying the bottom.

Again, I am not saying that some investors, or a group of investors, like the participants on this thread, cannot be different from the crowd. Looking at the mutual fund flows in recent times, it is clear that the crowd tends to get in after the market has risen and get out once the market declines. Also, it is well known that the majority of the investors underperform the market averages over the long haul, for a variety of reasons.

We learn from our mistakes. We profit from what we learn. Nothing has changed around here. Where have you been?

Good for you and I don't doubt your wisdom. I have seen your informed postings from time to time over the last several months. But I was not talking about you or the other knowledgeable participants on this thread alone.

Best regards.
