Actually, I DID try it myself - more or less.

I went to Fry's where they had a 1 GHz Compaq AthWiper4US notebook - 14" TFT display - on display and opposite it was a 1 GHz Pentium /// Sony notebook - 15" TFT display.

I picked up the AthWIper and along the bottom surface, it was VERY HOT over 95% of the surface.

Picking up the Sony, and feeling its bottom surface, it felt about 10 degrees cooler (admittedly a crude estimate)- but this lesser heat was concentrated in a much smaller area - about the size of my hand.

Conclusion - the AtheWiper4US runs MUCH HOTTER than an equivalent Intel Pentium /// - and for a given battery size, the Pentium /// should run a LOT LONGER !
