I have expected that those who shall become defendants in this case will attempt to discredit my record and attack me, in an effort to destroy the validity of the truth I state. They have now begun their deceitful campaign in earnest. I have been warned of this many times by my lawyers. These interests will do all in their power to make me an object of universal derision and scorn. I will not be threatened or intimidated by this. I have made myself ready for all of it. I have prepared for those who are quite evilly motivated to descend on my life. I shall fight them with my soul.

My record at Stock Operators is one of which I am very proud. I made no deceitful agreements. I did not trade for my own account while making recommendations. I am proud of the record I have established. It was one that cost me all of what talent I might have in this field; it certainly exacted all of my feelings of honor in this. I am quite sure that, had I "played ball" and taken the easy and dishonorable path, betraying those who trusted me by making deals with those who wished to profit in despicable fashion from those who believed them, both I and my site would have been a great "success" - and I would have lost all self-respect I might have ever had. Though many in our field attempted to draw me into this disgusting racket, I refused to sell myself in this way. Success is never real or worthy unless it comes through talent and hard work; those who find "success" by destroying their fellow man are despicable scoundrels.
