Aus,
Got it on the PDA's.
Topic change/ Some reports say that many new consumer music players, stereo's, car stereo's, portable "boom boxes", will have the capability to play MP3 files. I'm guessing that these units will play these files from a CD, which will require a person to burn the CD's they want to play.
Another option would have been CF, if CF had come down in price to the point where it would be cost/capacity appealing. I think especially a car stereo with a CF card slot would be very cool, and offer the ultimate in flexibility. You could take you 128 Meg (or more) card from your PC to your car, to your boom box when you go to the beach, to your family room stereo (the family room stereo may have a hard drive at some point), and then to your PDA when you travel.
Nice thought, but I think we are about two years behind on the cost/capacity issue, in relation to when the consumer products will become commercially available.
I wonder if the flash card industry is evangelizing the technology to the consumer products makers. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming years.
