Bombardier Receives an Order for the Supply of 55 Trams
From the Istanbul Transportation Company

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--JUNE 27, 2001 - 08:08 EDT
Bombardier Transportation was awarded a contract
by the Istanbul Transportation Company (ITC) for the development
and supply of 55 low-floor trams. The contract is valued at
approximately Cdn$112 million (86 million Euro). The delivery of
the vehicles will begin in autumn 2002.

Bombardier Transportation in Vienna will be responsible for the
development and production of the vehicles as well as for the
system integration and testing. Bombardier Transportation in
Västeras (Sweden) will supply the electrical equipment.

The vehicles allow level boarding even from the new platform
height of only 350 mm in the Istanbul city centre. This contract
underlines once more the success of Bombardier Transportation's
low-floor vehicle concept. The vehicles for Istanbul are based on
the vehicles for Cologne (K 4000), Croydon and Stockholm. At 30 m
length they offer a total passenger capacity of 272. An
air-conditioned vehicle interior and increased space for standees
are only some of the features that respond to Istanbul's
particular requirements.

"We are very pleased by the confidence Istanbul has placed in us
by awarding Bombardier Transportation this order. This new order
for trams is an excellent demonstration of the wide scope of the
new Bombardier Transportation where the strong position of
Bombardier in LRVs is complemented by the propulsion technology of
the former Adtranz" said Mr. Pierre Lortie, President and Chief
Operating Officer of Bombardier Transportation.

Bombardier Transportation is the global leader in the rail
equipment, manufacturing and servicing industry. Its wide range
of products includes passenger rail cars and complete rail
transportation systems. It also manufactures locomotives, freight
cars, propulsion & controls and provides signaling equipment and
systems.

Bombardier Inc., a diversified manufacturing and service company,
is a world leading manufacturer of business jets, regional
aircraft, rail transportation equipment and motorized recreational
products. It is also a provider of financial services and asset
management. The Corporation employs 79,000 people in 24 countries
in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Bombardier's revenues
for its fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2001 totalled $16.1 billion and
more than 90% were generated outside Canada.
