Ray & all threadsters, now this not 100% last mile related since it is more of a "long haul" affair but what do you make of this trend, alongside Loring Wirbel's article of "Fiber Payback Day" .. Seems to be that there are some frugal types "picking up the pieces" of the pile of ashes. IDT Corp, known for its low cost style recently made outreaches to buy the assets (mostly fiberoptic lines plus telecom gear) of ICGX and Teligent. Well, maybe this might be a "working" model for the CLEC sector also ?? Some irony here but I don't see this as a joke.. Plus IDT recently made a strategic alliance with Liberty Media (say European cable companies !) Hmmm... In the past IDT was renowned for mostly leasing FO routes and just owning switches. Now they could be in a position to acquire the "missing pieces" for a fraction of the cost to build them from scratch.. Intersting..
