Hal, when the ads get to the point of annoyance that is obscene (getting close now with the pop-up windows & skyscraper banners) then the "pay for content" Internet will arrive. There are 3 basic models for generating revenues on the web:

1. Advertising that WORKS
2. Subscription
3. Providing detailed personal data that will be sold

With the advent of technologies like Tivo even the Boradcast/Cable networks are freaking. Shows in the future may have no ads whatsoever - only paid placements within shows and sponsorships - like Reebok on Survivor.

There is an even bigger battle brewing with the Interactive TV group. If AOLTV takes up half your screen and they are selling their own advertisements then the network advertisers are angry about paying full bill for half the screen & half the attention.

If sites like Yahoo begin to charge then people will only use the content/sites that are provided free of charge through their ISP. IMO, Yahoo gets bought by MSFT or another large ISP.

If streaming video advertising does prove a viable revenue generator then we may continue to see free sites survive.

Not much upside resistance on AXC right now, could see a good pop.
