carranza,
<< you're authoritative tone >>
Hardly meant to be authoritative ... still trying to figure it out ... and what they implications of it are.
GSM-EDGE can't simply be ignored, sinceAWS has it on order, and it sounds like Cingular may go the route they have been saying they did not think they would go.
In Qualcomm's recent "Wireless Economics" Throw in the Kitchen Sink to Add Ballast Road Show they ask "is there toom for EDGE?
qualcomm.com
Somehow that doesn't look like UltraSite, but then again I'm not sure I totally understand UltraSite and exactly how it fits into the overall network architecture of a 3GSM network.
Along with the Nortstream piece (which if I recall you linked here once, combined with some of Peter Rysavy's recent insights, I thought the EMC article helped clarify where EDGE is at.
I still can not understand why TPTB at Qualcomm ignore it.
But maybe they know something I think I am starting to know, but don't really know.
<< made me think that I must have been dreaming. LOL >>
Well, on the plane ride home this afternoon, I italicized what I thought were some important points in the EMC article. When I saw your post, I busted out laughing, since you had bolded nothing that I had italicized.
Counterpoint is good for the soul, so they say.
Best,
