i think the reason those are so expensive is that sun can charge those prices. today you can buy an entry level sun workstation (sun blade 100) for $995. it is expensive in terms of pc prices but much better than what it was 3 years ago. i assume you'd see similar response from sun when inexpensive multi-cpu servers arrive. how much more expensive an 16 cpu usparc is than an 16 cpu xeon server ?
