Dear Ish: Well, you certainly have a point, however we as a Nation benefit from educating our children, not to mention the fact that it is not the childrens fault their parents do not take the proper interest. You know, I am a male and I NEVER missed a PTA meeting or a TEACHER/PARENT meeting in all the years my son was in school. Despite the fact I was a professional and worked long hours and much travel. Somehow I always found a way to get there. Result, my son, who is not a genius (had 130 IQ when he was tested for the advanced program) graduated 9th in his class in a tough school taking the tough courses, graduated from College with Honors in the Honors Program (tougher program) and now is PAID to go obtain his Phd plus all tuition waived. The bottom line is this: If parents would ONLY exert more interest and involvement the child would perform better and if they realized there can be a PAYBACK (ie my son's college tuition was paid entirely in scholarships even as an undergrad) perhaps that would be an incentive.
